What's not to love! These are easy and so versatile. We made them to go with steaks for dinner and then used the leftovers to go with eggs. I was out of cornflakes so just crushed up some crackers and my family liked that better than the corn flakes. You can't go wrong with these.

This is a great comfort food casserole that is super easy to make! Only thing I changed was I omitted the corn flakes because I didn't want them on top. You can add anything to this and it will turn out fabulous! Next time I plan to add mushrooms, red peppers, and corn. Great go to dish and will make again and again!

We call this funeral casserole i add bacon to mine

Very creamy! I had to use potato chip crushed on top because that is what I had. I also added ham because my granddaughter requested it! It was then a main dish versus a side dish. Green beans and cranberry sauce we're

Yum! Easy to make. Delicious.

This is comfort food to the max! This recipe is a hearty potato casserole that would be perfect with roasted chicken or ham. I made exactly as the recipe stayed with the exception of subbing with cream of mushroom soup because that is what I had in my pantry. I would recommend when you reheat it using the oven to crisp up the top. Heating it in the microwave left the cornflake topping chewy.

Delicious and always a crowd favorite!

Really enjoyed this! I practically made it as written except I added ham and I had to crush crackers for the topping. I did this for breakfast but I think I might have this for dinner with a veggie side. I'll be sure to make this again and again! Easy enough to put together BUT, how can you possibly put this together in 10 minutes? It took me almost 30 minutes, however, I wasn't in a hurry. But, melting butter, chopping onion and just plain mixing takes time. It won't stop me from making it again, though!

Two mishaps in making this recipe. 1) I ordered hash browns on my grocery list & 'O'Brien' hash browns were delivered. 2) I forgot to add the cheddar cheese into the mix. The 'O'Brien' hash browns added a great flavor and I topped the casserole with some of the cheddar cheese the last 5 minutes of baking. It's worth trying the'O'Brien' hash browns. I'm making it again in the future...but not forgetting to add the cheddar cheese.

I always try a recipe the first time to see what it tastes like. This is definitely worth five stars, The only change I would make next time is to add more chopped onion, and maybe decide if it really needs two sticks of butter.

Not sure what I did wrong but it was mushy and not creamy at all. Only thing different was I had to used diced potatoes not hash browns due to availability. And I used ritz on top instead of corn flakes Would be willing to try again with the called for hash browns to see if results come out different.

This is a delicious dish! It's the same recipe I learned to use here in Ohio. When we lived in South Dakota, I discovered many of the ladies out there substituted the sour cream for French onion dip and sprinkled in a little dried parsley flakes. I think that change elevated the dish in a new, delicious direction.

This was a delicious casserole, but it calls for way too much butter. The whole thing was swimming in butter. I had to drain the butter off of it. I will use half the butter next time I make this.

TO MUCH BUTTER CUT IT IN HALF MINIMUM

I have made this many times but it was according to my grandmother's recipe. Everything is the same but I used diced hash browns and I switched out the cornflakes for crunchy fried onions, like what is used on green bean casserole. I liked it better plus it eliminated another stick of butter.

This is almost the exact same recipe that's on the back of the Simply Potatoes Shredded Hash Browns bag. It's very rich and buttery and a staple at our Christmas Eve dinner. I make mine in an 8x8 pan and I leave off the corn flakes because I'm not a huge fan of those.

It was very good. I made it using the buttery round crackers substitute instead of corn flakes. I used a little less butter than it called for and if I make it again I will use even less. I may even try leaving it out and only use butter on the topping.

I followed the recipe. This was a great side for a late morning breakfast. I will most likely make this again. Next time I will cut the butter down to 1/2 to 3/4 cup total and perhaps add a bit more onion. This is a great basic recipe to experiment with according to your family's taste. Add meat to make a one dish meal.

This recipe makes a lot of food, but that's OK because everyone will be wanting seconds. This was delicious comfort food and I'll be making this often. Thanks for sharing!

Easy and quick to make. Easy to modify. Next time I'll use a 1/2 a stick of butter. I did use panko breadcrumbs mixed with parmesan for the topping. My mom said it tastes better than Cracker Barrel's.

Fantastic! At our annual Sap to Syrup cook out, we served this along with the pancakes and fresh syrup. Everyone raved how it was the best hash browns they ever had and it hit the spot. We didn't have cornflakes, so it was subbed as suggested by cook's notes for Town House butter crackers. Thanks!!

The recipe is just how my mom used to make it. Unfortunately when I tried to adjust the recipe for just 4 people I wasn't able to lower the amount of ingredients. I found this in other recipes I've looked at on this site.

Way too much butter and not enough corn flake topping.

I use white chedder Cheez-It crackers instead of cornflakes. Yummy.

Thank you for recipe this was easy and delicious! My husband ate all the corn flakes lol so i had to use panko crumbs. My son with autism who is a picky eater had 2 servings. This is a wonderful Sunday breakfast.

Delicious! Do you happen to know the first name of the grandma this recipe belongs to? I think I know her!

First time I made this it lasted no time and everyone loved it but is a bit much butter. This recipe has so many ways to make it slightly different for different taste and meals. Will be making it on more occasions.

I followed the suggestion of 1/2 of the butter and more onion. It was a big holiday hit! My daughter in law will reconstruct with all natural ingredients. We like the ideas of all the ways to add to the recipe, ham, veggies, etc!
